Early Return to Childhood Services

from 18th October

As announced by the Premier at this morning’s press conference, the NSW Department of Education has confirmed that all children will be able to return to Early Childhood services from 18th October.

This advice is in line with the revised return to school plan, announced today, which will see schools begin a staggered return from 18 October, and is based on expectations of NSW passing a 70% rate of double vaccination in the community by 11 October.

What you need to know:

• All children will be able to return to early childhood education and care settings from 18 October.
  
  
• Educators are still required to receive two doses of a COVID-19 vaccination by 8 November under the current Public Health Order.

Services should continue to follow health advice and department guidance:

• Maintain social distancing when interacting with other adults.
• Masks are mandatory across the state in indoor and outdoor environments.
• Maintain good cross ventilation and use outdoor play spaces effectively.
• All adults who attend the service must check in with the Service NSW QR codes.
• Follow Health advice if there is a positive case at the service.

Vaccination requirements for staff have not changed as part of this announcement. All early childhood education and care educators and staff are required to be vaccinated by 8 November under the current Public Health Order. Two doses of the COVID-19 vaccination will be required by this date.

In the event of outbreaks, public health advice may change.
