ECEC COVID Updates
The Department of Education has released the attached information on Thursday 13th January regarding the ongoing management of COVID. Approximately 3500 people attended the webinar on Friday 14th January. Other information in the link below includes a template letter that services can use to advise families of a positive case in your service, along with an updated NSW Health fact sheet for families.
Information and guidance are changing regularly, often daily. Please keep a close watch on new communication issued by the Department of Education. CCSA continues to advocate on behalf of ECEC services and will issue eAlerts for all important information as it is released.
Testing and isolation for contacts is no longer mandatory but remains strongly recommended in ECEC settings for contacts of a positive case as per updated health advice. Mandatory requirements now only apply for household contacts which includes family day care settings.
Booster vaccinations will become mandatory as part of the Public Health Order for Education and Care workers. The NSW Premier announced this morning (19/01/2022) that booster vaccinations can be given 3 months after your first 2 doses of COVID-19 vaccine at all State Health Vaccination Hubs. Booster vaccinations will continue to be given 4 or more months after your first 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine at GP practices and Pharmacies until 31 January. After 31 January booster vaccines can be given at 3 months after your first 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine at all places where vaccination is available.
Please be aware the Public Health Order is yet to be updated with mandated booster vaccinations for Education and Care workers and we will provide you with further information when this is released.
DESE has developed a timeline for providers and services that captures important milestones relating to the COVID pandemic in the early childhood education and care sector.
