On 1 November 2021, the Fair Work Commission (FWC) handed down its final Decision and Determination in the Teacher Work Value Case. The Determination will take effect from the first full pay period commencing on or after 1 January 2022.
CCSA has been advocating for our members and the wider sector, providing submissions supporting this case and appearing in the Fair Work Commission hearings. We welcome this decision that recognises the value of teachers in our sector.
CCSA is currently reviewing the Decision. We will be providing additional information through the Christmas Pay Guide, and a webinar series later in November.

Thrive by Five is currently campaigning for a National Early Years COVID Plan to help better protect children aged under five, early educators and communities from the impacts of COVID. Read more for details, and to support this campaign.

The Australian Industry and Skills Committee has announced a new qualification for the outside school hours care sector. The National Outside School Hours Services Alliance has developed a course, Certificate III in Outside School Hours Care, which is now accredited and available on the national registry for delivery by Registered Training Organisations. The current applicable qualification CHC40113 Certificate IV in School Age Education and Care will be deleted at the end of June 2022.
CCSA will continue to keep our members updated on this new qualification.
Director Identification Numbers (Director IDs) are now active for company directors. This change affects the company directors of for-profit early childhood services, and of not-for-profit services structured as either companies limited by guarantee or as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander corporations.
Single Touch Payroll update Webinars now available
From 1 January 2022, employers need to send additional payroll information through Single Touch Payroll (STP Phase 2). The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) is hosting a webinar series to explain the changes in detail.
Registrations are still open for the remaining NSW Department of Education 2021 virtual roadshow sessions. Each session will cover different topics including reportable conduct, sleep and rest best practice, and how to write better grant applications.
