The Community Child Care Fund (CCCF) special circumstances grant helps services stay open when something unexpected happens. Services can apply when a local emergency or natural disaster threatens their ability to stay open.

Early childhood education and care providers may offer only certain types of inducements from 1 January 2023. An inducement is an incentive offered by a provider to secure a child’s enrolment. From January, inducements that are financial or not directly associated with the quality or provision of education or care services will not be allowed.
The Australian Government’s Cheaper Child Care legislation passed through the Australian Parliament on 23 November 2022. This means that the $4.5 billion to deliver more affordable child care, announced in the Federal budget in October, becomes law.
Under the legislation, Child Care Subsidy (CCS) rates will increase from July 2023. The number of subsidised ECEC hours available to First Nations families will also increase.
Avoid Losing DGR Status for your School Building Fund
Most non-government deductible gift recipient (DGR) organisations need to be registered as a charity before 14 December 2022 or they will lose DGR status. This includes school building funds established by community preschools.
CCSA applauds the Australian Government for making such strong commitments to support and improve early childhood education with the announcement of the development of a Commonwealth Early Years Strategy and National Early Years Summit, to ensure Australia’s children have the best start at life.
To assist in crafting the Strategy, the Government will host a National Early Years Summit on Friday 17 February 2023 in Parliament House.
Deakin University are seeking early childhood education and care workers to participate in a research survey. This survey aims to help understand the current levels of confidence, knowledge, and skills of staff working in ECEC, and further inform the types of support and professional learning ECEC workers may want or need.
All participants will have the opportunity to enter a draw for one of 50 x $50 gift vouchers.

Wellbeing Initiatives for Early Childhood Professionals
CCSA is excited to launch a new section of our website dedicated to the wellbeing of everyone working in the early childhood education and care sector.
Together with Early Childhood Educator’s Well-being Project (ECEWP) we have created the Wellbeing Initiatives for Early Childhood Professionals. This initiative will allow services to share valuable ideas on wellbeing strategies that have been successfully, or unsuccessfully, implemented within their service.
Employers and employees both have responsibilities and obligations that must be met in order to meet the legal requirements of the Australian workplace relations systems. Some of these are unique to each role, while other are shared by both employers and employees, although with different levels of accountability.
